What role does hydration play in skin care?
What role does hydration play in skin care? How does that affect different skin types and conditions?
Hydration is “automatic” in healthy and oil/water balance skin and then needs no help. When water glands are underactive (for reasons we don’t understand but NOT because you don’t drink enough fluids), the skin becomes dry and needs supplemental moisture best supplied by water based moisturizers. This water deficient skin occurs in people whose water/oil skin types are dry, combination or mature. But internal hydration, i.e., drinking fluids, plays no role here.
